Does storytelling work for business?
In 2009, a journalist by the name of Rob Walker had the same question so he conducted a small study to find out.
First, he purchased two hundred thrift-store objects on eBay for a total cost of approximately $200.
Next, he asked a bunch of writers to come up with short stories about each of the objects.
Once the stories were in, Rob posted the objects for sale on eBay. However, instead of being accompanied by a factual description, the objects were now accompanied by a story.
So, what happened? How did the fictional stories about the objects affect the price of the objects?
The objects were purchased for $200, but they sold for an astounding sum of $8,000+.
In other words, storytelling increased the value of the items by 3900%. What would it be worth to you if your stories increased the value of your offerings by even a fraction of that percentage?
The program can be customized for a wide range of audiences (storytelling training leaders, storytelling marketers, storytelling for sales, etc.), and can further be niched down into one of two separate tracks:
Track 1: The Science of Storytelling in which audiences discover how to create stories that sell. Audiences will walk away with a deeper understanding of why stories matter, how to use and craft sticky stories, and how to incorporate them at work.
Track 2: Powerful and Persuasive Presentations – for teams who want to dramatically uplevel their presentation skills. This program is best done as a workshop or masterclass (10 – 80 people).
Please contact us to explore which of these two tracks is best for you.
